I have created a little introduction page to quickly get started with xIFr and see what the "Deep Search" is all about: But don't worry, there's no hidden agendas. This permission is required for xIFr to be able to read meta-data in images, no matter which domain they are embedded from. By shift-clicking when selecting xIFr in browser's context-menu, you will force xIFr to look for images larger than a specified size (The size is configurable). This is in my opinion the most important feature distinguishing xIFr from other Exif-viewers.Īlso, with Deep Search you can avoid overlayered logos and icons.
You won't even know if you actually were right-clicking directly on an img element or not. In 95% of the times, it just works as you expect. But with "Deep Search" xIFr finds the image you want to see details about, no matter if it is below a layer or is defined as a background-image of another element. Most other Exif viewers for Firefox only works if you can right-click directly on an html img element. It works sooo well - in my own very humble opinion :-) It is probably a matter of personal preferences, but you should really check the "deep search" feature. Note: If you ain't using a recent version of Firefox supported by latest version of xIFr, there's probably an older version of xIFr supporting your browser.īecause I felt other Exif readers annoyed me or I felt they were missing something. Windows lets me set EXIF dates via a properties dialog without any problem, but I need to be able to set times as well, and that doesn't work.XIFr is a viewer for EXIF, IPTC and XMP metadata in jpg image files. I would like to (where possible, some are in formats where I'm going to have to make do with other approaches) edit those pictures that support EXIF tags but are incorrectly or simply not date stamped with their appropriate dates and also their times. The problem is that not all of my pictures have said data. Because there are so many files I'm using a batch naming tool that can base decisions off of EXIF data. I'm now organizing the lot of them and arranging them with a standard file-naming scheme that includes date and time. Some I've taken with a Canon DSLR, some with a couple of old point-and-shooters, some with various phone cameras, and finally I've scanned some decades old family pictures.
I have a collection of several thousand photos that I've taken over the years.
